Nomination Information for the

IthacaNet Award for Achievement
in Networking Tompkins County

To encourage and reward the enormous effort required for effective data networking, IthacaNet, Inc. has established an annual award to be presented to the individual(s) or organization found most worthy of recognition for achievement in networking Tompkins County.

Nominations will be evaluated on the following criteria:

• Scope. What is the scope of the impact of the nominee's achievement, either in breadth or depth? How many people are benefited and how? How broadly does the project cover Tompkins County, or how completely does it meet the needs of one particular segment of the county's population?
• Reality. Excellent ideas in networking abound. The intent of this award is to recognize the transition from good idea to reality. Nominations for projects still essentially in their planning stages should be submitted in a future year. Note, though, that "reality" does not necessarily refer to creation of tangible infrastructure. Rather, "reality" will be based on achievement of the project's stated purpose.
• Continuity. The test of time is one of the hardest to pass in the networking world. Projects will be judged on the likelihood that they -- or their direct successors -- will still exist in 5 years.
