IthacaNet, Inc. is the host of the third annual Networking Tompkins County conference,
on March 22nd at the Statler Hotel on the Cornell University campus. Highlights
include keynotes by Tom Edwards, Executive Director of the CLEAR
Foundation, and Douglas E. Van Houweling, Vice Provost Information
Technology and Dean for Academic Outreach, University of Michigan. In addition,
four tracks of presentations, networking-related vendors displays, and the
inauguration of Tompkins County and Cornell's joint "Partnership
for an Electronic Future: Phase I". Registration deadline is March

On Monday March 24st, from10am to 3pm, Joe Sullivan will hold an Open House to show off what he and his company, M. J. Sullivan Industrial Machine Repair, do with machine tool automation. In many cases they are upgrading 386 controller equipment to 486 or Pentium controllers, and in some cases they are automating machine tools designed in the World War II era. presents George Cook from Apple Computer on March 25th 7:00 pm at the
New Science Building, Room 112, Ithaca College Campus. Ithaca's Macintosh
User Group invites one and all to a presentation by George Cook from Apple
Computer, Inc. George will split his time into two topics: a demonstration
of multimedia and video editing in an Internet society, and a look at the
future and strategy of Apple Computer.
Spider Graphics Corporation invites the community to an Open House at their new offices at 310 Harris B. Dates Drive (near Biggs Building A and the Cayuga Medical Center) on March 26, 1997 at 3:30 pm. The Open House will feature multiple presentations of leading-edge online "revenue pages", web animations, and interactive Websites. Boynton Middle School Library will be coming on-line on Wednesday, March 26, 1997 in conjunction with the Ithaca Technology Week. This means that students, staff and parents may search the collection by computer, that circulation will now be automated and that overdues and inventory will be generated by computer. On March 26, 1997, during the regular staff meeting at 2:30 pm, the system will be showcased and the first books will be checked out automatically. The event is being characterized as "In With the New: Out With the Old". In addition to the new system, books that are no longer useful to the general Boynton library collection will be offered to staff for their use. Client Services sponsors the annual Educational
Technology Day , which will take place on Thursday, March 27, 1997
from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Emerson Suites and adjoining areas of the
Campus Center. This event, now in its seventh year, features a Vendor Technology
Showcase, a College Showcase, and a series of 1 hour seminars and demonstrations.
The event is free and open to all faculty, staff and students at Ithaca
College and other institutions and organizations. See and learn about the
latest innovations in computers, the Internet, distance learning, multimedia,
graphics, computer music, the Web, educational applications, and much, much
more! While Educational Technology Day is free, we do ask that you register.

The Cornell Theory
Center will hold an Open House on Thursday, March 27th, from
7:00-9:00 pm in Rhodes Hall on the Cornell University campus. We offer two
very exciting opportunities to local parents. First the Training Facility
offers an opportunity for parents to come and explore the World Wide Web
and experience first hand the resources that are available at their fingertips.
Second, there will be 20-minute demonstrations of the Theory Center's room-sized
virtual reality facility, giving parents a chance to explore advanced technology
