What's happening in electronic networking in Ithaca and Tompkins County as we approach 2000? The Fifth Annual Networking Tompkins County Conference once again brings local and nationally known speakers for a series of lively discussions on the latest issues and developments in networking and information access in the area.

Information access has been enhanced in Tompkins County through the introduction of services such as RoadRunner from Time Warner and ADSL lines from Telergy. Use of the INet by local educational and governmental organizations has provided low cost, high speed connectivity for over 9,000 users. Policy questions related to appropriate use of the Internet, ownership and copyright of electronic information, and security and privacy of data are also becoming more important as more people in the community are connected.

Hosted by IthacaNet Inc., Networking Tompkins County will be held at the Statler Hotel on the Cornell Campus on Saturday, March 27, 1999 from 9am - 4pm. This event draws upward of 300 people annually. With our 5th conference, we are becoming a spring tradition in Ithaca. Not only do those attending find out what is happening in networking, but they find this a great place to network with other people and organizations.

The IthacaNet has again invited vendors of networking and other electronic services to participate in an all day trade show.

And at this year's conference there will be an exhibit of old computer equipment. Wax nostalgic over a TRS80 or an Osborne, a Lisa or a Toshiba Laptop. We expect most of these machines to still be working!

Lunch and coffee breaks are included in the registration fee. Check-in is 8:00am - 9:00am. Space is limited, so register early!
