We'd like to share with you a letter we recently received. (Names are omitted to preserve confidentiality.) 7-5-01 Dear Staff at OAR, I just wanted to take the time out and thank you all for the help you provide to individuals. No, I have not forgotten the many mailed pieces of letters and pencils and paper. But most of all I have not forgotten how you . . . provide someone to talk to through your visiting program. It's been nearly 4 years since you introduced me to my [visitor]... She has proven to be a very special friend. While she now resides again in London, she has continued to write me. Nothing could take the place of her friendship. The time spent here is never easy and sometimes it's hard to stay positive and hopeful. But through it all I have found that a few people can be counted on in a time of need. Your organization means much to the community and the work you do can never be replaced and never forgotten. Yours Truly... |

"O.A.R. brings light and hope to many who are in a dark and dreary place." |
"They helped us in here through the rough times of the holiday season... this gave me a feeling of not being forgotten and that I am still part of the human race." |
|
"I have been able to keep in touch with my lawyer, family and employer with your help. Without this I would not have a job when I get released!" |
"I've gained a higher self-esteem... [you] make me feel that my life is valuable and that I can pick myself up to get my priorities straight as a human being. Thanks so much." |
