ADOPT

ADOPTION APPLICATION

This adoption application will help us find the right Border Collie for you, which may take some time. Please use as much space as you want to answer the questions -- attach additional sheets if needed. We will consult with you by phone and/or e-mail, and we may request to visit your home (or have a local volunteer do so). The information on this adoption application form may be shared with other rescuers, unless you request otherwise. Thank you for caring about rescued Border Collies.

If you have filled out an application for another Border Collie rescuer or rescue group, please let us know when and how (paper, e-mail, or Web). If we can obtain that application, you will not need to fill out the TBCR version.

Adopters FAQ

A Few
Policies

Review the steps to adopting a Border Collie.

  1. Fees. Standard $150.00 adoption fee, which covers approximately half the average dog's rescue expenses. Fees for air transportation and special medical tests must be paid in full by the adopter.
  2. Veterinary care. TBCR dogs have received basic and, in some cases, critical medical care. At the time of adoption, the adopter receives a complete medical history of his/her dog (as best as can be determined or documented).
  3. Spay/castrate. All TBCR dogs have been spayed or castrated.
  4. Training and evaluation. All TBCR dogs have been temperament-evaluated and trained in basic manners. Most have also been sheep-tested for herding instinct and evaluated for other interests and sports.
  5. Contracts. At the time of adoption, the adopter must sign a legally binding adoption agreement.
  6. License. Adopters of TBCR dogs must license their dog in accordance with the laws where they live. Adopters who rent must have permission of their landlord.
