Houdini Found on Long Pond. Tavi gives his opinion of the life vest. He arrived on this beautiful island in the Adirondacks' St. Regis Canoe Area courtesy of some novice but not-too-bad paddlers. Even after old age had slowed him down a little, Tavi was not a dog to be adulterated. He would have been a great companion for Houdini. Just as we were thinking he had finally outgrown this trait, the vest was off. This was our last vacation together, and it was the best one we ever had. (August 1996)
