Chance's Story |
Chance was relinquished to Tavi Border Collie Rescue in November 1997 at age 11 months by a couple who took him in when their friends could no longer keep him due to a death in the family. In both homes, he lived outdoors. His Border Collie heritage is unknown.
Chance was unneutered, had giardiasis and a facial sore, and was not housebroken. The only command he vaguely knew was Sit. His major problems were mounting, urine marking, leash-pulling, and toy and food possessiveness. Neutering easily resolved the mounting and marking, and training is resolving the other problems.

Chance was affectionate and very playful. We called him the Border Collie retriever because his head looked like a golden retriever's, and he had the goofy, happy-go-lucky personality to match. He loved retrieving, but he liked nothing more than to have a nice big bone to chew.
Chance went to a foster family within a couple weeks, and that family decided to adopt him in December 1997. Chance has a new big sister too, a playful Labrador retreiver. We are grateful for the work they put into Chance, and are delighted that he is now part of their family.
