Rescue work is a BIG job and you can help!
Because of our limited resources, we sadly are unable to rescue
every Border Collie. We need volunteers in a variety of areas,
especially for foster care (providing a temporary home
for a rescued Border Collie awaiting permanent placement).
If you can help TBCR, please complete our volunteer
application. If you have any questions, please write
to us.
Ways TBCR Could Use Your Help
For the rescued dogs
- providing foster care
- teaching basic manners
- taking photos
- grooming
- evaluating for obedience, flyball, agility, Frisbee, and
herding
- providing transportation
- providing veterinary care or support
- working with local shelters
- watching newspapers for ads for adult Border Collies
- doing home visits and evaluations of potential adopters
For TBCR
- fundraising
- educating the public about Border Collies
- staffing information booths at dog events
- legal work
- advertising
- writing articles
- accounting

The volunteer application helps us to get to know you and what
you have to offer. We will consult with you by phone and/or e-mail,
and we may request to meet in person. The information on this
volunteer application form may be shared with other rescuers,
unless you request otherwise.

I would like to volunteer for the following activities (mark
all that apply):
- Foster Care: Provide a temporary home for a Border
Collie and help prepare the dog for adoption into a permanent
home.
- Training and Evaluation: Provide obedience training,
behavioral and temperament evaluations, herding instinct tests,
agility and flyball evaluations, or other training and evaluations.

- Transportation: Transport Border Collies by car or
air to rescuers or to adoptive homes. (Please specify which geographic
areas you can cover.)
- Border Collie Education: Place newspaper, public access
television, and other local ads; visit kennels, shelters, and
veterinary offices; work at information tables at dog events,
herding clinics, and other dog events. (Please specify what you
can offer.)
- Fundraising: Help raise funds and obtain equipment
and services. Design fundraising campaigns. Sell items at dog
events.
- Shelter Watcher: Inform local shelters about TBCR's
services. Notice when Border Collies come into the shelter, and
keep rescuers appraised of these dogs. Assist in relinquishment
to rescue as needed.
- Newspaper Watcher: Watch classifieds for ads for adult
Border Collies (for free or for sale). Inform advertiser of TBCR's
services.
- Home Visits: Visit potential adopters and assess what
kind of Border Collie would be best suited to their situation.
